The Great Croc Encounter!

The Great Croc Encounter!

During my travels while in Belize I met up with the A.C.E.S (American Crocodile Education Sanctuary) .  The ACES’s job is to conserve Belize’s critical wetland habitats and protected species, specifically Crocodilians, through scientific research and education to preserve wildlife. ACES is the only wildlife response organization in Ambergris Caye, Belize! This is Belize’s number one tourist destination and it has the highest number of croc-human conflicts in the country (problematic crocodiles are normally the result of being fed, event hough it is illegal.).

This little guy (although he didn’t feel so little when I was holding him) was found wondering outside of his natural habitat so it was our job to save him and release him back to his home. Together with the ACES expert Croc team we did just that! Cherie and Vince even let me do the releasing! Which to be honest.. I thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest when I was holding that 4ft. Croc who’s mouth was totally exposed and could bite my hand off at any second. Luckily, he is back in his home and I still have all my fingers 🙂 . Below you can find some pictures of my adventure and clips can be found at https://vimeo.com/user20818644 .  And definitely check out the ACES and all the wonderful things they do for the wildlife of Belize.
