Top 3 Travel Rewards Cards

One great thing about being a frequent traveler is that I have learned all the best money-saving hacks and can pass them on! If you are new to the world of traveling, you may wonder what a travel card is.

A travel card enables you to collect miles and points that you can use for traveling. There are different types of travel cards, some designed to collect frequent-flier miles and others to help you earn hotel credits. Some general travel cards also allow you to earn points on everyday spending.

In this blog, I’ll go over the factors you should consider before picking a travel reward card. I’ll also take a look at some of my favorites so you have some options to consider.

Picking a Travel Card

As I have mentioned, there are many different types of travel cards and it can be difficult to decide which one is right for you.

You can opt for a General Card that allows you to earn points or miles which you can redeem in the form of cash.

A great benefit of such cards is that you do not have to stick to a specific airline or hotel. Some general cards even allow for transferable points. You can also use your points more flexibly this way.

Airline Cards are a great option if you are a frequent flier. Some airlines allow you to earn miles on daily purchases. These miles potentially decrease flying costs that add up if you fly regularly!

Hotel Cards are basically loyalty program systems that many hotel chains offer. They allow you to earn points for hotel stays and other benefits like upgrades.

Some travel cards come with the annual fee waived for the first year or so. This is a great bargain that you should always go for.

When picking the type of credit card, look at how it suits your needs and if you will be able to make the most of it. Also, weigh the cost against the benefits you will receive and make sure it is a worthwhile purchase!

Amex Platinum

The Amex Platinum card is one of my favorites! What I like best about the Amex Platinum card is that it comes with multiple ways to earn points. You can earn rewards by making airline ticket purchases or prepaid hotel bookings. You can also earn points through normal spending which is what really sold the Amex Platinum card for me.

Amex also offers services for some amazing car rental programs! I don’t know about you but I love having my own rental during trips, this means I don’t have to rely on Uber or any public transport. I can make sure my itinerary goes on smoothly. I also really enjoy taking road trips which means I use the car rental option a lot.

Amex gives you access to reduced airline fares when booking! If airports stress you out, then the Amex card provides access to some amazing airport lounges across the world so you can relax before each flight. Personally, I love having the luxury to enjoy a good airport lounge.

Another thing I enjoy is the customer service provided by Amex, they have a responsive Hotline that is available 24/7.

Capital One Venture Card

Another Travel Card I love is the Capital One Venture Card! One downside of the Capital One Venture Card is that it has slightly higher annual fees but I think the perks it offers make it worth it! It allows you to earn 5 miles per dollar spent on hotels and cars and 2 miles per dollar on other expenses.

If you travel internationally then I am sure you also rack up transaction fee purchases. But the best part about the Capital One Venture Card is that it does not charge a transaction fee on international purchases! This will definitely help you save a lot of money while traveling internationally.

Capital One Venture Card also makes it easy to redeem your points! You can also opt for partner transfers.

Chase Sapphire

Another card that I have recently discovered is the Chase Sapphire Travel Card. The Chase Sapphire also offers points on travel, dining, and also some daily purchases. One thing I loved about the card was the amazing bonus I received as a new cardholder.

The Chase card is also pretty versatile and allows you to easily transfer points and use them according to your needs. Chase also has many airline partners who allow you to transfer points into their loyalty program and then use them to purchase flight tickets.

The Chase card gives you 5 points per $1 of spending on travel and 3 points per $1 spent on dining- this is a pretty good deal! A unique feature of the Chase Sapphire Card is that it offers travel insurance benefits- this covers cases of trip cancellation, delay, loss of baggage, etc.

Final Thoughts

If you are a frequent flyer you need to get your hands on a Travel Card ASAP!

Travel Cards have truly changed my traveling experience for the better. Whether it is the car rental perks offered by Amex or the travel insurance offered by Chase Sapphire, I truly believe a Travel Card is a worthwhile investment!

However, you should carefully consider all the features offered by a Card before you pick one! Carefully weighing all the pros and cons and considering which features you need will help you make the right decision.

Make sure the Travel Card you pick is according to your needs and improves your travel experience. Also learn the point system properly so you understand how it works.

Happy Traveling!
